Biography
Tammera Ayers graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and an Associate’s Degree in Communication, taking as many electives in creative writing as possible.
In her early career, she wrote and facilitated continuing education courses, focusing on Grief Recovery, Reminiscence Therapy, and the Eden Alternative to train healthcare professionals to enhance the lives of older adults. In 2008, her efforts in developing a Reminiscence Program utilized by the Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services earned her an innovator of the year award for the state of Ohio.
Fascinated by the impact one person’s life experience can have on another, Ms. Ayers wrote several human-interest stories for church and work newsletters as well as the God Allows U-Turns and Cup of Comfort anthologies. Her short story, New Life Amidst Destruction, won first place and became the introductory story for the Cup of Comfort for New Mother’s Anthology.
In addition, she has published short stories in Sunday School take home papers including The Standard and Seek. Other publications include local literary journal Imprints and Impressions, The Literary Lion, and e-pubs with Melody of the Heart, Romancing the Christian Heart, and Spirit-Led Writer.
Currently Tammera Mart works full time as a Licensed Social Worker utilizing the culmination of her skills to assist individual in connecting with resource and in obtaining or maintaining their highest quality of life.
During the pandemic, she published two non-fiction books with her daughter through Indiana University Press. Her debut novel, Hidden Truths, will release October 15, 2023.
